St.Lucia Gros Piton and rainforest hikes tours or excursions are the best hikes to do in St. Lucia and the Caribbean. The twin Pitons are unique to St. Lucia and are our world heritage Site-Gros and Petit Piton. However most people prefer climbing Gros Piton because it is easier and less ‘risky’ than it’s sister Petit Piton.
Gros Piton hike lasts approximately four hours and is approximately 2619 feet tall. The hike is strenuous and includes climbing and hiking steep inclines. The trail is covered by the dense forest foliage offering shade along the way. Our hikes are done by residents of the community who were born and raise at the base of Gros Piton. No one knows it better than them as it is home to the local guides who will take you on this adventure! There are four quatres at which you can choose to sit and relax during your hike. Groups usually have more than one guide to assist those who are slower or cannot complete the hike.
EN BAS SAUT RAINFOREST HIKE- Located thirty minutes drive away from Soufriere town and is voted by many as the best St. Lucia Rainforest hike because of it’s cascading falls. This hike is moderate to strenuous and the waterfall is located half way through the trail. It boasts endemic tree species such as Chatagnier, Gommier and tree ferns. The En Bas Saut rainforest is also home to many of St. Lucia’s bird species and a few other wild life. The circular trail is also The hike lasts approximately two hours and is recommended only for persons who are physically fit.
EDMUND RAINFOREST TRAIL– Located forty five minutes drive away from Soufriere town, this trail is moderate and is suitable for persons wishing for a more relaxing walk and rainforest experience. Endemic trees, flower gardens, fresh water streams and crabs are amongst the many flora and fauna you will see on the trail. Most of the trail is covered with dense foliage and walking can be one to two hours as you desire before you walk the same path back to your bus.
DES CARTIER RAINFOREST TRAIL– This trail is located six miles away from the main road on the island’s east coast and is 4 km (2.5m) long. It is a trail recommended for seeing the St. Lucian parrot and other bird species. The fauna of this area is diverse and has two spectacular views of rainforest canopy at the viewing points. Total hiking: one and a half to two hours.
Hotels or cruise ship from the north: You will be driven down the island’s west coast through the banana plantations, villages of Anse La Raye and Canaries to Soufriere town and the Fond Gens Libre community where the hike starts.
For Soufriere Hotels: It is only twenty minutes drive from Gros Piton and rainforest.
Coconut Bay Resort: Forty five minutes drive away from Gros Piton hike and rainforest hike sites.

Special note: Persons attempting this hike should be physically fit. This tour is not recommended for pregnant women, persons with heart, knee and breathing problems.
Preparation for hike: Have a good night sleep, good breakfast, try to consume less or no alcohol the day before and on the day of the hike. Hydrating yourself by drinking plenty of water the day before will also help a lot! Please wear proper attire so that you feel comfortable when hiking (wear hiking shoes or trainers, short pants or loose long pants.) Light Bag packs are recommended, not side bags.
What to bring along: Bug spray, cameras, cash. Bottled water and complimentary drinks will be provided.
